Ar­gyll ori­en­teers do well in Ed­in­burgh

THIS year’s Scot­tish Schools Ori­en­teer­ing event was held at Dalkeith Coun­try Park just out­side Ed­in­burgh re­cently.

Oban High School, Lochgilp­head High School and Tay­val­lich Pri­mary School were rep­re­sented by ju­niors from the lo­cal ori­en­teer­ing club EckO.

Cour­ses were flat and fast and the MacMil­lan fam­ily did well with first place finishes for Jura and Iris in the S4 girls and P5/6 girls races re­spec­tively and a sec­ond place fin­ish for Louis in the S2 boys race.

Oban High School just missed out on medal po­si­tions with Cal­lum Hunter and Rona Shearer both achiev­ing fourth po­si­tion in the S5/6 boys and S1 girls but Oban High achieved fifth over­all out of the 24 high schools com­pet­ing.

The MacMil­lan fam­ily – Jura, Iris (in the front) and Louis – who won medals. Jura and Louis are from Lochgilp­head High School and Iris is from Tay­val­lich Pri­mary School.
