Aberdour 3 Kyles Athletic 3

-

(After extra time – Aberdour won 2-1 on penalties)

It took two hours and a penalty shoot- out to separate the Aberdour colts and the Kyles Athletic colts at Silver Sands.

Kyles started well but it was Aberdour who went in front through Harry Simpkins. However, goals from Cairn Limbert and Malcolm MacFadyen had Kyles 2-1 in front after an hour.

Aberdour substitute Jamie Anderson took the tie to extra-time with a goal not long after coming on.

A Chris Bowerman shot from distance bounced into the net to the delight of the home fans with just four minutes of extra-time remaining. Kyles fought back though and Craig Martin netted following a goalmouth scramble to make it 3-3 so referee Euan Pearson took the tie to a penalty shoot- out.

Both teams failed to convert their first three penalties and it was 1-1 after 10 spot-hits. The outcome went to sudden- death. Kyles then missed from the spot and Sam Evans took advantage to send his penalty low into the net to give Aberdour a famous win against higher league opposition.
