Crime un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion at fes­ti­val promo

SIX Scot­tish crime writ­ers took part in a book sign­ing and dis­cus­sion in Fort Wil­liam Li­brary on Fri­day evening.

The au­thors were there to pro­mote the fifth an­nual Bloody Scot­land In­ter­na­tional Crime Writ­ing Fes­ti­val, which will take place in Stir­ling in Septem­ber.

Chris Brook­myre hosted the event and read from his lat­est novel, Black Widow, which tells the story of an In­ver­ness woman who mur­dered her hus­band. Dou­glas John­stone gave an excerpt from The Jump, about a woman whose son com­mit­ted sui­cide, while Matt Ben­doris read part of DM for Mur­der, a Twit­ter mur­der story fea­tur­ing a pair of in­ves­tiga­tive jour­nal­ists.

Craig Robert­son shared an excerpt from his sixth novel, In Place of Death, which fol­lows the theme of ur­ban ex­plo­ration, and Gor­don Brown read from Melt­down, the sec­ond book in his se­ries fea­tur­ing body­guard Craig McIn­tyre.

Fol­low­ing the read­ings there was a dis­cus­sion and ques­tion-and-an­swer ses­sion.
