Plockton season gets under way
THE Plockton small boat sailing season began on Saturday June 4 with the first race for the Moore Bowl (local boats) and the first race for the Dubhard Trophy (centreboards .
Only two local boats were ready and the race result was - 1 Graham Sharp, Rona; 2 Douglas Hamilton, Ajax.
Five boats sailed in the centreboard race with the following result - 1 Tristan Southall, Laser 2000; 2 Lauren Glasgow, Fantas; 3 Ian Bullivant, Laser.
Commodore this year is Neil MacRae who is second officer on CalMac’s boat Finlaggan, which sails from Kennacraig to Islay.
The sailing club were delighted recently when one of their members, Calum Reid, who has been sailing at Plockton for three years, was picked to sail for Scotland at the Eric Twiname Championships at Rutland Sailing Club. He raced four times and his best result was 12th and he finished 47th out of 90 toppers.
