Plock­ton sea­son gets un­der way

THE Plock­ton small boat sail­ing sea­son be­gan on Satur­day June 4 with the first race for the Moore Bowl (lo­cal boats) and the first race for the Dub­hard Tro­phy (cen­tre­boards .

Only two lo­cal boats were ready and the race re­sult was - 1 Gra­ham Sharp, Rona; 2 Dou­glas Hamil­ton, Ajax.

Five boats sailed in the cen­tre­board race with the fol­low­ing re­sult - 1 Tris­tan Southall, Laser 2000; 2 Lau­ren Glas­gow, Fan­tas; 3 Ian Bul­li­vant, Laser.

Com­modore this year is Neil MacRae who is sec­ond of­fi­cer on CalMac’s boat Fin­lag­gan, which sails from Ken­nacraig to Is­lay.

The sail­ing club were de­lighted re­cently when one of their mem­bers, Calum Reid, who has been sail­ing at Plock­ton for three years, was picked to sail for Scot­land at the Eric Twiname Cham­pi­onships at Rut­land Sail­ing Club. He raced four times and his best re­sult was 12th and he fin­ished 47th out of 90 top­pers.
