Working for the people of Argyll
Sir, I wish Breege Smyth every success with her project to offer a platform to community councils.
I think greater participation by the public in decision-making, arising from this and other initiatives coming about through community empowerment, is to be encouraged.
I welcome ideas on how we can deliver services in a more effective and responsive manner. I look forward to engaging with groups wanting to be part of this.
As an independent councillor, I had to choose which group, if any, to join on the council. I did not become a councillor to stand on the sidelines, watching while others plan the future of our area.
Budgets are never going to be easy but I would rather be part of the council administration able to contribute my ideas and those I have received from the public.
I hope to be able to work with all of our elected representatives regardless of political affiliation and with our communities. It is only through such cooperation that we can all achieve the best for our area. I would be delighted to talk about any issues by email at kierongreen@yahoo.com or by phone on 01631 562 444. Councillor Kieron Green, Combie Street, Oban.
