Glenbarr Abbey

-

Nestled among divine grounds with riverside walks and woodland, lies stately Glenbarr Abbey and the MacAlister Clan visitor centre. The abbey provides visitors with a glimpse of 18th century living, comprising several different periods of construction and expansion. Antique toys, china collections, patchwork and gloves worn by Mary Queen of Scots are just a few of the interesting elements you will encounter on your tour. Tours are conducted daily by Lady Glenbarr, Jeanne MacAlister. After your tour, tea is served in the gift shop where you will find a great selection of MacAlister and Scottish gifts. Visitors to the abbey and visitor centre have stated that if you are visiting Kintyre, this place is a ‘must see, totally unusual and absolutely worth a visit.’
