The former councillor passed away on Tuesday July 5, surrounded by his family.

Leading the praise for Mr MacIntyre’s work and commitment to his civic duties was Oban Community Council.

Chairwoman Marri Malloy said: ‘It is with great sadness to hear of the death of Councillor Duncan MacIntyre,

‘Duncan was an excellent councillor for his constituency, and he was a true son of Oban, he will be missed greatly.

‘He was a friend, and often adviser, to Oban Community Council.

‘He was the one person that I, as convener could rely on if I needed support with community issues.

‘He worked hard for his electorate and everything he was involved in was always for the benefit of Oban and the surrounding area. In fact he had the welfare of the whole of Argyll very much at heart.

‘He was a true and honest Highland gentleman. May he rest in peace.’
