Town team bags £880 for coffers at fundraiser

-

FORT William’s Town Team raised £ 880 at a Morrisons bag-packing event.

Sixteen members of the community team helped customers pack their shopping between 10am and 4pm on Saturday July 2.

Town team secretary Sue Keen said: ‘ We raised a magnificent £ 880.55, which is a huge boost to our funds.

‘We will put the money towards equipment, paint and plants that we need to keep the town looking the best we can.’

The team has also finished planting the sundial garden in the Parade.

Volunteers from the town team and staff from Tesco helped to get the patch completed.

The sundial shaped garden was planted up with pink, red and white begonias and geraniums, with help from volunteers at Fort William’s Garden Stop.

The Lochaber Royal British Legion has also asked the team to plant six planters at the war memorial in the town, in the run up to judging for the war memorial competition, which Ms Keen said ‘it would be great to win again’.
