L ast Wednesday afternoon the unthinkable happened. Two beautiful young children lost their lives after the car they were travelling in left the A816 near Kilmelford and plunged into Loch nan Druimnean.

The news left Argyll shocked and stunned, and the outpouring of sadness and support for the family has been overwhelming, with many people taking to social media to send their messages of sympathy.

Family friend Sarah Stopford set up a crowdfunding page, which has so far raised £13,000 to help the family.

It may be a cliche, but it is at times like these that communities like ours show their true worth. The generosity of so many people, in words and deed, has been heart-warming.

The sympathy of all at The Oban Times goes out to Leia and Seth’s parents, family and friends at such a sad time.
