What the man and woman in the street think of the traffic disruption

-

Ronny Wilson, 52, said: ‘Fort William is a traffic-sensitive area. Anything that could create gridlock on the road should be done in the evening or during the night. We only have one road, and once that’s closed or backlogged, we are done for, especially in the height of summer.’

Morag Forsyth, 66, said: ‘I was trying to come out of the town when it was coming through, and it took me over an hour to get back to Caol from the centre.’

Kate MacLellan, 67, said: ‘Bringing an abnormal load through the town in the middle of the day is absolutely shocking. Surely it’s common sense that they should have been given a specific time when it wouldn’t be a traffic issue.’

Angus Francis, 27, said: ‘I don’t think it’s such a big deal. Welcome to Scotland. Being stuck in traffic is normal round here. People have to run their businesses, so if the lorry needed through, then it needed through.’
