STAFF inside the Lorne Hotel were shocked when a large, heavy police cone and a wooden block came flying through the window after closing time last Wednesday.

The incident at 12.05am is being investigat­ed by police in Oban.

A large window was damaged during the incident.

Police Constable Fraser Anderson, who is in charge of the investigat­ion, would like anyone with informatio­n to come forward.

A man, who was seen running away from the scene by staff, is described as wearing a white hooded top and dark trousers.

TWO MEN at the Tiree Music Festival were given fixed penalties for public order offences during the event last weekend.

Police said the festival was, on the whole, good-humoured.

A 45-YEAR- OLD man has been reported to the procurator fiscal after being found in possession of herbal cannabis last Thursday July 14. The man had the class- B drug on the street on Station Square, Oban, shortly after 3pm.

AN OPEN day is to be held at Oban Police Station to allow access for the public.

On Thursday August 4, between 10am and 4pm, police officers will be on hand to show members of the public and children around the station.

Members of staff from the community investigat­ion unit, uniformed police, road policing officers and others will be on hand to meet people at the Albany Street premises.

Police cars, cells and, of course, handcuffs will be available for members of the public to try.
