New electric points power Argyll’s green machines

-

ELECTRIC cars in Argyll and Bute can recharge at nine new plug points.

Evolt’s network of seven rapid and two fast chargers is Argyll and Bute Council’s first publicly available electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, funded by Transport Scotland to promote the use of greener cars in Scotland. Seven of the rapid chargers can efficiently charge two EVs to 80 per cent of their battery life within 30 minutes through a 50Kw AC and 43Kw DC outlet. These are supplemented by two 22kW fast chargers for quick ‘top-ups’, and have AC and DC capability, taking one hour to simultaneously charge two EVs. The chargers are located at the Columbia Centre Car Park, Fionnphort, and Ledaig Car Park, Tobermory, both on Mull, and at car parks in Lochgilphead, Arrochar, Inveraray, Campbeltown, Dunoon, Helensburgh, and Rothesay.
