Volunteers wanted for veterans’ cause

OBANITES may be recruited to volunteer for Help for Heroes, when two charity workers visit the town next month.

Ailsa Alcock and Yvonne Beattie will be at the North Pier, in Stafford Street, Oban, on Tuesday August 9, from 10am-5pm to recruit volunteers in the local area.

Help for Heroes aims to provide better facilities for British servicemen and women who have been wounded or injured in the line of duty.

The charity was founded in 2007 and offers grants to individuals and specialist third sector partners, as well as providing services through a network of recovery centres.
