Tribute to hero piper would be fitting
Sir, In my article on Willie Lawrie in The Oban Times of July 7, I wrote that Mrs Macdonald of Dunach was from Tote on Skye. She was actually a Macdonald from Ord on the Sleat peninsula on Skye.
It would be a fitting tribute if a memorial to Pipe Major Willie Lawrie, in the form of a trophy to be competed for annually in one of the piping competitions at the Argyllshire Gathering, could be awarded in Willie’s memory to mark his unrivalled contribution to pipe composition in peace and war.
