Days gone by – Soroba Road

Iain Macdonald from Albany Street in Oban sent this photo. Iain said: ‘During the early- to mid-1980s (I may be out with the date), the steeple on the parish church needed repairs. I was acquainted with the members of the scaffolding company who were working there and was allowed to climb to the top to take photos. This picture shows Soroba Road looking south towards Oban High School. It pre- dates the building of the Co- op as the memorial works on the corner of Soroba Lane can be seen. There’s no Lorn Medical Centre and the old high school building can be seen at the top. This area of Oban has seen many changes over the years since.’
