Library-users kept waiting

BOOK readers on Mull and Iona are waiting for an Argyll and Bute Council officer to tell them what suggestions they have about the future of their library service.

Plans are being made to retain the mobile library bus as an asset maintained by the community.

Last February’s budget meeting agreed funding for the island library van would be removed and the council entered into negotiations with the community.

One plan was to keep the school library in Tobermory but those on the Ross of Mull said they would then be without a service. Ross of Mull residents say they would like to keep the library van.
