STAFF in­side the Lorne Ho­tel were shocked when a large, heavy po­lice cone and a wooden block came fly­ing through the win­dow af­ter clos­ing time last Wed­nes­day.

The in­ci­dent at 12.05am is be­ing in­ves­ti­gated by po­lice in Oban.

A large win­dow was dam­aged dur­ing the in­ci­dent.

Po­lice Con­sta­ble Fraser An­der­son, who is in charge of the in­ves­ti­ga­tion, would like any­one with in­for­ma­tion to come for­ward.

A man, who was seen run­ning away from the scene by staff, is de­scribed as wear­ing a white hooded top and dark trousers.

TWO MEN at the Tiree Mu­sic Fes­ti­val were given fixed penal­ties for pub­lic or­der of­fences dur­ing the event last week­end.

Po­lice said the fes­ti­val was, on the whole, good-hu­moured.

A 45-YEAR- OLD man has been re­ported to the procu­ra­tor fis­cal af­ter be­ing found in pos­ses­sion of herbal cannabis last Thurs­day July 14. The man had the class- B drug on the street on Sta­tion Square, Oban, shortly af­ter 3pm.

AN OPEN day is to be held at Oban Po­lice Sta­tion to al­low ac­cess for the pub­lic.

On Thurs­day Au­gust 4, be­tween 10am and 4pm, po­lice of­fi­cers will be on hand to show mem­bers of the pub­lic and chil­dren around the sta­tion.

Mem­bers of staff from the com­mu­nity in­ves­ti­ga­tion unit, uni­formed po­lice, road polic­ing of­fi­cers and others will be on hand to meet peo­ple at the Al­bany Street premises.

Po­lice cars, cells and, of course, hand­cuffs will be avail­able for mem­bers of the pub­lic to try.
