Council leads way in IT cost efficiency

ARGYLL and Bute Council has been recognised for its value-for-money approach to storing electronic data.

As part of a Digital Scotland project to reduce IT costs across the Scottish public sector, a tool was launched to work out the total cost of data centres and compare this to the cost of operating in the ‘Cloud’ or moving to a large commercial data centre.

At a national seminar for best practice, Argyll and Bute Council’s two data centres, in Kilmory and Helensburgh, were showcased as top class.
