Ar­gyll to get money from EU

IN THE wake of the Brexit re­sult, The Oban Times asked Ar­gyll and Bute Coun­cil how many agreed projects would re­ceive Euro­pean fund­ing.

A Free­dom of In­for­ma­tion officer said four projects were in the off­ing.

A Busi­ness Gate­way Lo­cal Growth Ac­cel­er­a­tor Pro­gramme was awarded £272,100 from the Euro­pean Re­gional De­vel­op­ment Fund (ERDF) and cov­ers all of Ar­gyll and Bute Coun­cil area.

Ar­gyll and the Is­lands LEADER was awarded £4,886,126 and cov­ers all of Ar­gyll and Bute as well as Ar­ran and the Cum­braes.

The Euro­pean Mar­itime and Fish­eries Fund was awarded £985,000 cov­er­ing all of Ar­gyll and Ayr­shire.

Lastly, the Big Lot­tery Fund has started the pro­cure­ment process for De­liv­er­ing Fi­nan­cial In­clu­sion, sup­ported by the Euro­pean So­cial Fund.

The to­tal con­tract value for Ar­gyll and Bute is £ 3.77 mil­lion.

Pro­cure­ment opened on May 13 and closed to ini­tial re­sponses on July 11 2016.

The coun­cil in­tends to sub­mit a bid in conjunction with a num­ber of other lo­cal agen­cies.

In­vi­ta­tions to ten­der will be is­sued in Au­gust to the high­est scor­ing bid­ders in each of the lots and the dead­line for sub­mis­sions of re­sponses is Tues­day Septem­ber 20.
