Pipe band re­ceives £2,000 cash boost

OBAN Pipe Band has re­ceived £2,000 from the Scot­tish Sea Farms Heart of the Com­mu­nity Trust.

The do­na­tion was used to buy sheep­skin pipe bags and chanters. The money also al­lowed the band, which was es­tab­lished in 1920, to equip eight young mem­bers who re­cently joined from Oban High School and an ad­di­tion two mem­bers from Ben­dec­ula and Ard­gour.

Arthur Gil­lies, band pres­i­dent, said: ‘ We have had a lot of suc­cess in re­cent years which brings pub­lic­ity and recog­ni­tion for Oban and Lorn and we are all re­ally look­ing for­ward to this sum­mer.’
