Pipe band receives £2,000 cash boost
OBAN Pipe Band has received £2,000 from the Scottish Sea Farms Heart of the Community Trust.
The donation was used to buy sheepskin pipe bags and chanters. The money also allowed the band, which was established in 1920, to equip eight young members who recently joined from Oban High School and an addition two members from Bendecula and Ardgour.
Arthur Gillies, band president, said: ‘ We have had a lot of success in recent years which brings publicity and recognition for Oban and Lorn and we are all really looking forward to this summer.’
