New record set at Lochaber Marathon

-

THE Lochaber Marathon took place last weekend when 383 took part, which was an increase in numbers on last year. It’s a big challenge for anyone to take on because it’s a fairly hilly course.

Blind runner Paul Watts completed his 303rd marathon in a time of 5:29:55.

The organisers can now sit back and chill out for a while before making a start on the 2017 race where already a number of people have signed up to.

Prize-winners: male – 1 Olle Dahlberg – 2:43:54 (new course record); 2 Denis Prikulis – 2:49:15; 3 Ewan Crawford – 2:50:27.

Female – 1 Janet Dickson – 3:31:46; 2 Sally Murray – 3:41:55; 3 Fiona Anderson – 3:43:50.

Top three locals (Lochaber): male – 1 Denis Prikulis – 2:49:15; 2 Andy Craig – 3:36:52; 3 Alastair Grier – 4:02:45.

Female – 1 Sara Mair Bellshaw – 4:11:38; 2 Aileen Duncan – 4:36:44; 3 Ellen Morrison – 4:37:51.
