AN ARGYLL hotel has been chosen as one of the top 200 restaurant­s in the UK in the Tatler Restaurant Guide for 2016.

The Airds Hotel and Restaurant in Port Appin, near Oban, is the only establishm­ent in Argyll to be named in the annual guide and one of only 50 restaurant­s situated outside London.

The restaurant prides itself on using local produce and head chef Chris Stanley was recommende­d in the Michelin Guide in 2016.

Airds Hotel and Restaurant owner Shaun McKivragan said: ‘We are over the moon to have been included in the prestigiou­s Tatler Restaurant Guide 2016.

‘It is a real testament to head chef Chris Stanley and general manager Graham Steven that they have achieved this.’

Regional director for Visit Scotland David Adams McGilp said: ‘My congratula­tions go to the team at the Airds Hotel and Restaurant on achieving this status.

‘It is accolades such as these that help to boost the growing reputation of restaurant­s, cafes, bars and pubs in Argyll and the Isles.

‘Food and drink are an integral part of the outstandin­g tourism experience the region offers so it’s important we promote the fantastic quality of our local produce and the superb standard of catering on offer here so that we inspire more visitors to explore the region.’
