Hot showers at remote hostel

-

FOR THE first time in 85 years, a remote Highland youth hostel can provide hot showers.

Loch Ossian Youth Hostel, on Rannoch Moor, has connected to a hydro scheme and upgraded its services. The hostel now has a fridge, electric heaters and full laundry services meaning all bed linen is now provided by SYHA.

One of Scotland’s most remote hostels, it’s only accessible by catching a train to Corrour Station, the highest mainline railway in the UK.

Jan Robinson, Loch Ossian manager, said: ‘ We are excited to be connected to hydro power generated locally on the Corrour Estate. We are as ‘green’ as ever. We have been able to upgrade our facilities, offering our guests much more comfort, especially hot showers.’
