John wins award at shinty camp
A SKYE teenager won the award for Player of the Camp at the 2016 National Player Development Camp for young shinty players, which was held in Strathallan School in Perthshire recently.
John Gillies scooped the trophy at the camp, where young shinty payers aged between 14 and 17 received training from Camanachd Association coaches in the technical, physical and psychological aspects of the game.
John was not the only budding shinty star to receive an award at the end of the camp. David MacDougall of Aberdour received the award for most improved player and Liam Arnott of Lochcarron was awarded for showing outstanding endeavour at the camp.
