Wedding guests join in the fun at successful Knoydart Games

-

A WEDDING party joined in the fun of the Knoydart Games which, despite wet weather, were hailed a great success.

The event, on Saturday August 6, featured a variety of competitions including tug- of-war, an assault course, a community bar, tombola and stalls.

Jackie Robertson, an Inverie village hall committee member, told The Oban Times: ‘The day was a great success with a fantastic turnout. The ferry brought in guests from Mallaig.

‘There was a wedding party on Knoydart too. The couple got married on Mallaig and then celebrated at the games.

‘They turned up in a white land rover covered in ribbons and bunting.’

In the evening everyone gathered in Inverie village hall to enjoy the music of ceilidh band Dosca. The night was organised by Anna Robertson, 13, and Kiera Holroyd, 17.

The youngsters orchestrated the whole event, planning which band would play and sorting their accommodation while in Knoydart. Ms Robertson said: ‘It was a great learning curve for the youngsters and good to see them get involved.’

She added: ‘It was a great community day out, with tourists and locals having fun together and a couple celebrating their wedding.’
