Mallaig win Uisdean MacDonald Cup

NEVIS Range appeared in their first ever cup final on Friday (August 5) night and made Mallaig work hard for their victory.
A hat-trick from Mallaig’s Ross Douglas was the difference between the teams in the end.
Nevis Range started brightly and dominated the early part of the game before Douglas’s pace opened the scoring in the 25th minute.
A Jamie MacGregor header shortly after gave Mallaig a 2- 0 lead they barely deserved.
Lewis Morrison’s free kick reduced the deficit for Nevis Range in the 36th minute. But just before half time a Ross Douglas free kick evaded the Nevis Range defence and nestled into the bottom corner of the net.
Nevis Range were dominant in the second half, but only good goalkeeping kept them from narrowing the gap. With eight minutes remaining Douglas completed his hat trick and retained the cup for Mallaig.
Yvonne MacDonald presented the trophy to the Mallaig captain Jamie MacGregor at the end of Friday’s match.
