FLOATING on the beautiful Caledonian Canal the Eagle Barge Inn provides the perfect setting for a fantastic seafood meal or specialist curry. The only floating restaurant and bar on the canal, the 120 ft Dutch barge was built in Holland in 1926 and weighs in at around 200 tonnes. The barge was converted into a restaurant which now offers a unique dinning experience for those who want to dine on the beautiful Caledonian Canal Stationed at Laggan Locks, near Invergarry, the Eagle Barge has a full selection of Ales on tap, and 62 whiskeys on offer. They offer a lunch time menu from 12pm to 3.30pm that does not require a booking, and two evening dinners menus. The evening meals are from 5.30pm to 8.30pm and must be pre booked before 3pm on the day you wish to eat, as all of the evening meals are cooked to order. Their specialist dish is a Seafood Fayre which is made of crab leg, crab claws, langoustin­es, mussels, peppered mackerel, lobster, squid and clams, all served on a bed of steaming turmeric rice. The Eagle Barge also offers a range of specialist curries, including korma, balti, rongan josh, tikka masala and jalfrezi. They are unique in the fact they boast some of the hottest curries in Scotland, if you choose of course. They can go from mild to wild to suits your needs. With a warm fireplace, comfy leather sofas in the bar area and a diverse menu the Eagle Barge Inn offers something for everyone.
