Weather fails to dampen spirits
THE Tobermory Open Sponsored by D and W Brown Builders took place over the weekend of August 6 and 7. A 36-hole competition played over two days encountered horrendous weather on Sunday with galeforce winds and horizontal rain, many of the golfers saying they had never played in conditions as bad.
However, some 23 golfers turned out and there was only one no return so well done to all who competed. The MacBrayne Cup for the scratch prize was won by Paul Brown with a 36 hole score of 146, second was William MacCrone with 150 closely followed in third place by his dad Ewan with a 151.
The Willie MacAllister Memorial Trophy was won by Calum MacLean 123 net; 2 Peter MacCrone (Bathgate)132; 3 Angus Cowe (Erskine)142.
