is visitor accommodation in Oban too expensive?
Clive James, from Watford, came to Oban after seeing McCaig’s Tower on television.
He said: ‘ You [people from Oban] complain, but it’s expensive in Watford. The nearer you get to London, the more expensive it is.’
Mr James paid £35 pppn for his accommodation in Fort William.
Dorothy Henderson, from Musselburgh, said: ‘ We only paid £60; I would not have paid that [£132], it’s not worth it.’
Irene Turnball, from Glasgow, said: ‘ That’s expensive, I wouldn’t pay that. We’re paying £60 for two. I was in Liverpool and stayed close to the airport. An overnight stay and to use the car park for a week was £85.’
Neil Brown, from Oban, said that he wouldn’t pay the £132, but he added: ‘If that’s what the price is, it must be what people are willing to pay.’
Lesley McInnes, from Oban, said she has friends who pay for accommodation in the town.
She said: ‘I think it depends what deals are on at local hotels. We want fair accommodation for a fair price.’
