Strongman Classic raises charity cash

-

THE THIRD Haldenby Strongman Classic event has raised more than £2,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The challenge, which was held last Saturday, is named after strongman Mark Haldenby, who sadly died last year after losing his battle with cancer.

Mark attended the event the first time it was run, helping to raise money for the cancer charity, but this was the first year without him.

Mark’s wife, Caz, Haldenby and daughters Jorja, Ebony and Priya were on hand during Saturday’s event and handed out the trophies to the day’s winners.

Strongman and friend of Mark, Stuart Whyte, told The

Oban Times: ‘We asked Caz if she wanted us to hold the event again this year and she was delighted that we wanted to. I think they all really enjoyed themselves.’

Four events took place on Saturday for both competing strongmen and strongwomen to take part in – Viking press, tyre flip, deadlift for reps and atlas stones. There was also a display from Fort William cheerleaders Ben Nevis All Stars.
