Pensioner fined for causing crash

A LOCHGILPHEAD man who pled guilty to overtaking a car causing a oncoming vehicle to end up in a ditch was given a £400 fine at Oban Sheriff Court on Monday.

John MacPhee, 71, of 2 Dun Mor Avenue, Lochgilphead, said he made an ‘error of judgement’ on April 14 on the A816 near Knipoch.

Sheriff Ruth Anderson QC said that while she was not taking away MacPhee’s licence, she wanted Mr MacPhee to take more time when driving.
