Lovat Shinty Club plans new pavilion

LOVAT Shinty Club have embarked on an ambitious project to build a new sports pavilion at their Balgate pitch.

The new building will provide male and female changing rooms for the club’s youth and adult shinty teams and be used regularly by the community.

It will incorporate treatment rooms designed to be used by physiotherapists and NHS staff as well as social areas for the local school and other constituted groups who operate in the community.

With the local village hall oversubscribed, the demand for an additional community facility is high.

The project ties in with Lovat’s development plan which aims to increase the number of youth members at the club. With a ladies’ team now playing regularly, the new pavilion will also resolve issues arising from the current limited changing facilities.

Lovat have support from sportscotland and the Robertson Trust and, together with the club’s own funds and donations, they already have a large contribution towards the cost of the project. They are not quite there yet and are appealing for donations for a project which means so much to the shinty club and the community as a whole.
