Licensing change

THE Immigration Act 2016 will soon change the way taxi drivers are licensed.

Under the provision of the act which comes into force on December 1, the Highland Council will only be able to grant a taxi driver or private hire car (PHC) licence to those who pass a check to verify they are not disqualified for immigration status reasons.

Applicants for licences will need to attend their nearest licensing office with original documents showing the right to work in the UK.
