Fund will help to fight fuel poverty
FAMILIES across the Highlands are set to benefit from almost £300,000 of additional funding to keep their homes warm this winter.
The Scottish Government has announced that housing associations and the Highland Council will be given a share of a £9 million fund to help improve the housing of those most in need.
Kate Forbes, MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, said: ‘ The Scottish Government has made tackling fuel poverty a priority – and this funding for Highland is further evidence of that.
‘ The £295,500 will go some way to helping Highland Council and housing associations tackle fuel poverty and ensure that some of the most vulnerable households in Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch are able to heat their homes.’
