Fund will help to fight fuel poverty

FAM­I­LIES across the High­lands are set to ben­e­fit from al­most £300,000 of ad­di­tional fund­ing to keep their homes warm this win­ter.

The Scot­tish Gov­ern­ment has an­nounced that hous­ing as­so­ci­a­tions and the High­land Coun­cil will be given a share of a £9 mil­lion fund to help im­prove the hous­ing of those most in need.

Kate Forbes, MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Bade­noch, said: ‘ The Scot­tish Gov­ern­ment has made tack­ling fuel poverty a pri­or­ity – and this fund­ing for High­land is fur­ther ev­i­dence of that.

‘ The £295,500 will go some way to help­ing High­land Coun­cil and hous­ing as­so­ci­a­tions tackle fuel poverty and en­sure that some of the most vul­ner­a­ble house­holds in Skye, Lochaber and Bade­noch are able to heat their homes.’
