A DOG died after becoming unwell on a walk at Fishnish, Isle of Mull, but after an extensive search police officers do not believe there is any foul play.

The dog became ill after walking in the forest with its owner and two other dogs. The pet was taken immediatel­y to the vet on the island who diagnosed a number of conditions.

The dog was then taken home by its owner where it died in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A police constable in conjunctio­n with Forestry Commission Scotland searched the area for any signs of poison but nothing untoward was found. There are no reports of illness in other dogs. A 39-YEAR- OLD man was arrested for allegedly assaulting another man in the Quarry Road area of Oban on November 15. A report has been sent to the procurator fiscal. A MAN was removed from Oban, Lorn and the Isles hospital on November 15 shortly after 10.45pm after allegedly assaulting a member of staff. The 46-year- old was kept in custody and a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal. A THEFT from a commercial property in the Lochavulli­n area of Oban is being investigat­ed. The break-in was between 6pm on November 16 and 9am the next day. Anyone who saw anything suspicious should contact PC Danny MacBeth on 101. A 25-YEAR- OLD man has been reported to the procurator fiscal for allegedly possessing a class A drug on the Esplanade in Oban at 4.30pm on November 17. A 35-YEAR- OLD man has been reported to the procurator fiscal for an altercatio­n that allegedly happened in a pub on Soroba Road, Oban, on Friday November 18. A DRIVER speeding at 78mph in a 50mph zone at Arrivain near Tyndrum on November 19 has been reported to the fiscal.
