Meet the team at Backwoodsman

NEXT year Backwoodsman will celebrate 40 years of supplying wood-burning and multi-fuel stoves to customers all over Argyll, Lochaber and the surrounding inner and outer isles.

Back in 1977, Andrew McIntyre founded the stove business in a spare bedroom in the family home. Forty years on, it has grown into a large industrial premises with a showroom and is situated in Barcaldine, just off the main road on the B845 to Bonawe.

The company continues to be family-run to this day. ‘My father started the business at the very beginning of the wood-burning stoves boom back in the 1970s,’ says Claire. ‘Many of his original customers are now returning to us to replace stoves that have lasted the best part of 30 years, which I think gives a good indication of the quality of products and level of service Backwoodsman has always offered.’

The team consists of Andrew, Rosy, Tim and Claire, who work closely to cover all aspects of the process, including surveys, specification, building regulations (and good practice), supply and delivery.
