Radio manager steps down

-

THE MANAGER of a local community radio station has stepped down after 12 years.

David Ogg held his final show on Nevis Radio on Friday December 30 and tomorrow (January 6) will be his last official day with the company.

Announcing the news last Thursday, Nevis Radio revealed that as a company and charity it had been looking at options to make itself more financially viable and has held numerous meetings and business reviews. Following one of these reviews, David put in for voluntary redundancy believing it was in the company’s best interests that he should move on.

A spokesperson from the company said: ‘Following careful consideration and seeking business and legal advice, the board at Nevis Radio accepted David’s offer.’

The company added that David’s departure is going to leave a big void and expressed sincere thanks for his service and the skills that he shared. Friends and listeners of the station took to Facebook to pass on their well wishes.

Under the Nevis Radio user name, the company sought to reassure listeners who were concerned about a possible feud between David and Nevis Radio by posting: ‘It is vitally important for people to understand there is no ill-feeling here, despite some of the rumours that have grown arms and legs, and we wish David all the best for his future ventures.’
