THE PEO­PLE of Con­nel cel­e­brated the New Year in tra­di­tional style with a ceilidh in the vil­lage hall on Hog­manay.

Mu­si­cians trav­elled from Loch Awe and fur­ther afield to join the fine se­lec­tion of lo­cal per­form­ers.

First foot­ers were on the Shian Road at 3am and lights were still burn­ing along the Bon­awe Road at 5am.

The fire­work dis­play from Oban could be heard, along with the fa­mil­iar sound of the ves­sels in Oban Bay as they sounded their horns at mid­night. A WELL-AT­TENDED pub­lic meet­ing re­gard­ing the pro­vi­sion of a play park in Ben­der­loch was held just be­fore Christ­mas.

Rep­re­sen­ta­tives from the Forestry Com­mis­sion, West High­land Hous­ing As­so­ci­a­tion, Lochnell School Par­ent Coun­cil, Po­lice Scot­land, com­mu­nity coun­cil­lors, Coun­cil­lor Robert­son and res­i­dents dis­cussed the op­tions. The find­ings will go out for pub­lic con­sul­ta­tion. The pro­posed play park at Ben­der­loch was on the agenda of Ard­chat­tan Com­mu­nity Coun­cil’s meet­ing on Thurs­day Jan­uary 12 at North Con­nel Hall. HOME- START Lorn is look­ing for vol­un­teers to sup­port fam­i­lies with a child un­der five years of age.
