Benderloch and North Connel

-

THE PEOPLE of Connel celebrated the New Year in traditional style with a ceilidh in the village hall on Hogmanay.

Musicians travelled from Loch Awe and further afield to join the fine selection of local performers.

First footers were on the Shian Road at 3am and lights were still burning along the Bonawe Road at 5am.

The firework display from Oban could be heard, along with the familiar sound of the vessels in Oban Bay as they sounded their horns at midnight. A WELL-ATTENDED public meeting regarding the provision of a play park in Benderloch was held just before Christmas.

Representatives from the Forestry Commission, West Highland Housing Association, Lochnell School Parent Council, Police Scotland, community councillors, Councillor Robertson and residents discussed the options. The findings will go out for public consultation. The proposed play park at Benderloch was on the agenda of Ardchattan Community Council’s meeting on Thursday January 12 at North Connel Hall.
