Islay and Jura

-

A £4.3 MILLION lottery fund has given £63,178 to Islay and Jura Community Enterprises, a social enterprise which runs the Mactaggart Community Leisure Centre in Bowmore, Islay.

The money will pay for a new weekly support group for people on Islay and Jura with disabilities and long-term conditions. It will enable them to chat, meet new people, gain confidence, build trust, share their worries and support others facing similar life challenges. Targeted travel provision will be provided as public transport doesn’t run in the evening or on a Sunday.

Nineteen groups across Scotland have shared the £4.3m ‘life changing’ pot from Big Lottery Fund Scotland.

Chairwoman Maureen McGinn said: ‘ This funding will support 19 groups across Scotland to improve the places they live and the well-being of people facing challenging circumstances.

‘It’s great to see groups such as Islay and Jura Community Enterprises Ltd receiving funding to help support people through the toughest of times.’
