Portree Lifeboat crew say bon voy­age to re­tir­ing chair­man af­ter 18 years

CREW of the Portree RNLI said farewell to re­tir­ing chair­man Peter Mac­Don­ald last week.

The crew gath­ered for its an­nual fes­tive din­ner on Satur­day Jan­uary 14 when coxwain Hamish Cor­ri­gall pre­sented Mr Mac­Don­ald with an RNLI ex­cel­lence in vol­un­teer­ing award.

Mr Mac­Don­ald has been in­volved with Portree Lifeboat sta­tion for the last 18 years. Apart from his role as chair­man, he was also a deputy launch­ing of­fi­cer. A spokesper­son for the Portree RNLI de­scribed him as hav­ing ‘been a valu­able as­set in the sta­tion man­age­ment team’.

Mr Mac­Don­ald also took an ac­tive role in RNLI fundrais­ing through­out his years of ser­vice and was a pipe ma­jor with Isle of Skye Pipe Band.

A spokesman for the RNLI crew said: ‘ We all wish Peter and his fam­ily well in the new projects he hopes to un­der­take.’
