Portree Lifeboat crew say bon voyage to retiring chairman after 18 years

CREW of the Portree RNLI said farewell to retiring chairman Peter MacDonald last week.

The crew gathered for its annual festive dinner on Saturday January 14 when coxwain Hamish Corrigall presented Mr MacDonald with an RNLI excellence in volunteeri­ng award.

Mr MacDonald has been involved with Portree Lifeboat station for the last 18 years. Apart from his role as chairman, he was also a deputy launching officer. A spokespers­on for the Portree RNLI described him as having ‘been a valuable asset in the station management team’.

Mr MacDonald also took an active role in RNLI fundraisin­g throughout his years of service and was a pipe major with Isle of Skye Pipe Band.

A spokesman for the RNLI crew said: ‘ We all wish Peter and his family well in the new projects he hopes to undertake.’
