Hospital ward closed to new admissions

-

WARD 2C at Raigmore Hospital has been closed to new admissions following a number of patients being diagnosed with flu.

Three patients have tested positive for flu and as a precaution the ward has been closed.

Relatives and friends are being asked to avoid visiting Ward 2C if possible and should telephone the nurse in charge before travelling to the hospital. The ward can be reached by calling the Raigmore Hospital switchboard on 01463 704000.

Dr Adam Brown, consultant microbiologist for NHS Highland, said: ‘By restricting visiting to the affected area, it helps hospital staff protect the health, privacy and dignity of our patients.

‘We would also ask that people do not come to the hospital to visit if they have, or live with someone who has, had any recent flu-like symptoms.

‘ Ward staff will be happy to talk to visitors on the phone so they can get updates on how their relatives are.’
