Ballachulish

FOLLOWING a board meeting of Ballachulish Community Company (BCC), it emerged the board would be largely unchanged for the year through to October 2017.

BCC is still waiting to see if the Scottish Government will provide funding for community projects, including the village’s hydro scheme. Meanwhile, other avenues of acquiring capital are being explored.

The Glenachulish scheme now has planning permission, though it is facing similar funding difficulties. If it goes ahead, BCC will have a five per cent share in it and is monitoring the opportunity of acquiring a larger community share.

BCC is moving towards collecting membership payments through online banking. In the meantime, anyone wishing to pay the £ 5 sum should hand it to a board member.
