Suc­cess­ful time for swim­mers

THE LAST six months as an af­fil­i­ated club has brought great suc­cess as well as a very busy sched­ule for the Lochaber Leisure Cen­tre swim­mers.

The swim­mers have trav­elled to Buckie, Tain, In­ver­ness, Stir­ling and Aberdeen com­pet­ing in train­ing days and galas.

Swim­mers Jenna MacLean and Evie-Jay Clark man­aged to get four of the qual­i­fy­ing times re­quired to join the Scot­tish Re­gional Devel­op­ment Pro­gramme and they at­tended train­ing ses­sions in Aberdeen.

A spokesper­son for the club said: ‘It was a pos­i­tive ex­peri- ence for both of the swim­mers who were given the op­por­tu­nity to train with other elite swim­mers, learn about nutri­tion and land-based train­ing.’

Suc­cess­ful

The gala in Tain was an­other suc­cess­ful event for the swim­mers. On the day there were 50 new per­sonal best times recorded, 17 new age group records set and one new club record set.

The age group records were Evie-Jay Clark for 50m fly and 100m IM; Danni Maclean 50m fly; Jenna Maclean 50m front crawl (also a new club record), 50m breast and fly and 200 IM;

Win­ners of the Ste­vie Martin tro­phy awarded to the swim­mers of the year were Lyall Mor­ris from Ard­na­mur­chan High School and Evie-Jay Clark from In­ver­lochy Pri­mary School.
