Tenants wanted for new affordable homes at Ulva Ferry

-

ULVA Ferry is seeking new families to live in the area, helping to secure the long-term sustainability of this corner of north-west Mull.

There will be two- and three-bedroom houses available to rent from this summer and applications are now invited from interested families. Offering affordable rents, low heating bills and secure tenancies, these new homes are being built next to Ulva Primary School. The houses will be offered via an application process, with priority given to families with children to enrol in the school.

A joint venture between the Ulva School Community Association (USCA) and Mull and Iona Community Trust (MICT), the Ulva Ferry housing project is on track for completion this spring.

This innovative community project is funded by Argyll and Bute Council, the Scottish Government, Quaker Housing Trust, the Trusthouse Charitable Foundation, USCA and many generous donations from locals and visitors alike.

Local development officer Helen MacDonald, who has managed the project since April 2014, said: ‘ We are delighted to finally be offering these houses for rent. We are grateful for all the support we have received from community members and our funders, and it is just fantastic to offer two families the opportunity to make these new houses their homes.’

Anyone interested in renting one of the properties should contact Helen on 01680 812 900 or by email to hmacdonald@mict.co.uk. The closing date for applications is Friday March 24.
