ON JAN­UARY 14 up to a mil­lion peo­ple in more than 8,000 clubs around the world cel­e­brated the 100th re­lease of the iconic Les Mills Body Pump work­out, cross­ing time zones and na­tional bor­ders. At­lantis Com­mu­nity Leisure cel­e­brated ' the world’s big­gest work­out' with a mid­night Body Pump class, mak­ing it the first cen­tre in the UK to launch this re­lease. The fol­low­ing day it hosted a full day of taster fit­ness classes with 'Born to Move' and a dance-a-thon. In the process, At­lantis raised more than £772 for the Oban Com­mu­nity un­der-fives play­park. 'I only found out at 8am on Fri­day the 13th that we were go­ing live for the of­fi­cial Body Pump Face­book page, and the whole town pulled to­gether and found us not one, but two fan­tas­tic pipers – Emma Hill and Gre­gor Mac­Don­ald,' said At­lantis mar­ket­ing co- or­di­na­tor Claire Hutchi­son. 'Jade MacEwan show­cased some High­land danc­ing and Louie Bar­row set up some awe­some lights for us. Our mid­night Body Pump was bril­liant – we had such a buzz and go­ing live to the world just made it even big­ger. We had com­ments from all over the world and had over 102,000 views! We had 18 fan­tas­tic par­tic­i­pants at mid­night with four in­struc­tors, and more than 100 par­tic­i­pants through­out the day for taster classes. Our team worked so hard to make the whole event a suc­cess and we are thrilled with the re­sult.' Chair of the Oban Com­mu­nity Play Park com­mit­tee, Lind­say El­liot, said: ‘ The do­na­tion to the un­der-fives play park is mas­sively ap­pre­ci­ated and gets us so much closer to our £100,000 tar­get, which has now been met by a fi­nal do­na­tion from the Suez Trust. It was great to see so many peo­ple of all ages be­ing ac­tive and play­ing on Saturday.’ At­lantis of­fers nine Les Mills Pro­grammes, in­clud­ing Born to Move, with 11 in­struc­tors and classes for all fit­ness lev­els. The Body Pump work­out is re­freshed with new mu­sic and new moves ev­ery three months, us­ing light to mod­er­ate weights with lots of rep­e­ti­tion, re­sult­ing in a to­tal body work­out that leaves you lean, toned and fit-fast.
