Stress-busting calendar dates to keep in mind
There is a new event coming to Oban – a day of yoga and mindfulness on Saturday February 11 from 10am to 4.30pm. It is being run by two women from Seil Island, Claire Hartley (mindfulness instructor) and Karen McCoss ( yoga teacher). ' The day will consist of sessions of yoga alternating with sessions of mindfulness,' Claire explained, 'and anyone is welcome – they can be a beginner or experienced at yoga and it doesn’t matter if they don’t know anything about mindfulness. The day will give a good overview of what mindfulness is and how it can help people to be less stressed and anxious.'
For more details about the day, see the courses/ workshop section at www.clearandmind- ful.co.uk or www.isleyoga.net or if you have questions or wish to book a place call Claire on 01852 300073 or Karen on 07793 653080.
Karen added: 'It is a wonderful opportunity to have a whole day dedicated to yourself.
;It is something most of us never make time for and it is so invigorating and refreshing. The practices are led so it shouldn’t feel too long or too tiring and people can take it at their own pace.'
Claire trained to teach at Bangor University, considered to be the best course in the UK for training teachers in mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) and Karen has trained with Triyoga, Europe’s leading yoga teacher training body.
Karen teaches in Oban on Wednesday evenings (and carers – Thursday mornings) and on Seil on Wednesday mornings and Thursday evenings, while Claire runs eight-week mindfulness courses (the next one starts April 18 in Oban, 19 in Lochgilphead) and courses in businesses to improve staff health, communication and productivity. They both teach one-to- one sessions.
Claire said: ' We will run another day event in the future so if the date of this one doesn’t suit people, they can call to put their name on a list and we will contact them about the next one. The day events are £ 40 with tea and biscuits provided. People just need to bring a packed lunch and have time to just focus on themselves for a change.'
