THERE has been an increase in house break-ins throughout Lochaber and police are encouraging home owners to remain vigilant.

The most recent break-ins took place while homes were unoccupied.

Police said taking precautions such as leaving lights on while away and asking neighbours to keep a watchful eye all help in preventing and detecting these crimes.

Police advice that any suspicious activity or strange/ unknown vehicles seen in local areas should be reported as a matter of urgency. A WINDOW of a house in Drumfada Terrace, Corpach, was damaged when a stone was thrown at it sometime between 10am on January 22 and 12.30pm on January 23. Anyone in the area at the time who saw anyone acting suspiciously is asked to contact police in Fort William. AN ANCHOR and buoy may be missing from Glasdrum Point on the Sound of Mull. If anyone has information as to the whereabouts of the buoy, or any reason to suggest the anchor may be missing, they should contact police in Strontian.
