Kindness prevails in Kinlochleven

-

COMMUNITY members and students in Kinlochleven have been praised for their kindness.

Neil MacPherson, a primary five pupil at Kinlochleven Primary School, approached head teacher Heather Thomson to ask if he could organise a ‘bake sale for babies’.

Neil wanted to raise money for the neonatal unit of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow after hearing about how Mrs Thomson’s niece, Freya, was born 13 weeks prematurely and had been cared for so well by the staff at the hospital. Neil co- ordinated the whole event and managed to raise £ 80.

The area’s Community Kids Group, which is made up of the school’s nursery children and staff, also took part in the ‘reverse advent calendar’ before the New Year, where pupils were asked to bring in an item of food to be donated to the Lochaber foodbank.

Mrs Thomson said she was very proud of how kind the school community is and thanked everyone for their participation.
