Lorn and Islands Hospital is vital

-

Sir, We had at one time five hospitals in Oban: the McKelvie, West Highland, Dalintart, the County Chest, and Glen Euchar (Oban Maternity Hospital).

Now we have only one. And we need it. As proof, I have had experience of being a patient within Lorn and Islands Hospital. I suffered two mini strokes and a major one within three months and without the teamwork of the doctors, nurses and other staff, where would I be?

We gave up five hospitals to get this one so we must not yield in the fight to save it.

I cannot see it closing because it covers such a large area, including Mid Argyll, Campbeltown, Tarbert, Lochgilphead, Mull, Iona and Oban.

Who in their right mind would consider closing this wonderful hospital. Whoever thought up the cuts must be joking, so I do not think it will come to pass.

There is a first- class team at Lorn and Islands Hospital so leave them alone and stop interfering. Hugh McCorquodale, Longsdale Terrace, Oban.
