Fort William suffer heavy defeat away at Cove Rangers

-

THE FORT remain firmly rooted to the bottom of the South Highland Football League after another thumping defeat at the weekend.

This time it was current champions Cove Rangers who dished out the punishment, firing home seven unanswered goals.

Goalkeeping coach Jimmy Paterson, 51, had to come off the bench, only 25 minutes in, to replace the injured Dougie MacLennan.

Cove did not take the lead until the 38th minute when Mitch Megginson scored.

Daniel Park doubled their lead on the stroke of half time.

Megginson and Park both scored again in the second half, as did Connor Scully, Eric Watson and Ryan Stott.

This defeat now means the Fort have conceded an unenviable 103 goals in 26 games.

Next up is a home game against Rothes, who come to Claggan Park this weekend with a 3pm kick- off.
